Victorian Nepali Community Unites for a Nepali Centre

A fundraising dinner towards building a Nepali Centre in Victoria was agreed as a huge success equally by organizers and participants. The program was organized tonight by ANMC (Australia Nepal Multicultural Centre).
Nepali Community Centre (Registered as ANMC) is a joint initiative of ANMC, NAV and NRNA Australia (VIC), supported by all Nepalese community organisations and passionate individuals. The sole objective of ANMC is to undertake the responsibility of establishing and operation our own community center.
Mr Ranjan Baidhya, President – ANMC and past president of NAV gave an emphatic illustration of proposed centre and described the execution plan. Hon Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon gave an inspirational speech and pledged $50000 towards the fund. Several participants filled our the form for life membership and expressed solidarity towards the cause. Rajesh Acharya, Treasurer, ANMC advised that the generous Victorian Nepali community and well wishers raised in excess of $100000 tonight.
Gopal Pokharel, General Secretary ANMC gave welcome speech on the program. Dr Chandra Deepak Pokharel, Bom Yonzon, Jog Limbu, Shree Pant, Dikpal Dev Pangeni, Surendra Sedhai, Sunil Bhandari, Binit Sharma, Mahesh Bhandari, Raju Shakya, Sudhir Shakya, Deepa Rai, Keshav Kandel, Madhav Paudel, Parbati Pahari, Bhola Giri provided valuable support in planning and organizing the program successfully.
NAV and NRNA provided active support to the fundraising dinner. NAV’s current team played a key supporting role including ticket/door management and auction. Abhisekh KC, NAV EC Member was instrumental in sourcing the auction items, as well as planning and executing the auction. The program was also attended by most of the past executive committee members including past presidents, past vice presidents.
NAV believes that the fundraising dinner will be remembered as an important milestone in gaining momentum for a Nepali Centre in Australian soil. NAV intends to work together with ANMC in the future to involve more members of the community in this endeavour.
