Craigieburn Nepalese Community Celebrates Nepali New Year 2073

Craigieburn Nepalese Community, a registered organization of people with Nepali origin living in the northern suburbs of Melbourne celebrated Nepali new year the Bikram Samvat 2073 today at Newbury Child and Community Centre, Craigieburn. This program was attended by various dignitaries from Nepali as well as multicultural communities. Mr RC Sapkota, the chairperson of the Craigieburn Nepalese Community and Dr Sabitra Kaphle, President Didi Bahini Samaj and active member of the Community highlighted various programs the Community has been running. Mr Chandra Yonjan, Hon Consulate General of Nepal wished further progress of the Community. Cr Chandra Bamunusinghe, Deputy Mayor for Aitken Ward talked about the Hume area being home of more than 160 ethnic groups and the great multicultural environment the area has.
Dr Sabitra Kaphle was felicitated on the program for her contribution to Nepalese language and organizing health promotion activities in the community.
Dr Anupam Pokharel, President NAV along with Mr Bharat Tiwari, Executive Committee Member represented NAV in the program. Dr Pokharel appreciated the Community’s endeavors to bring people of Nepali origin together in Craigieburn area and provide various services to the community members, and discussed various ways NAV can work together with Craigieburn Nepalese Community.
